Australian Student Visas getting harder to obtain? We have the know-how to make it happen!

Home - Student Visa - Australian Student Visas getting harder to obtain? We have the know-how to make it happen!
Australian student visa

Ever since the Australian immigration department announced that student visas will become harder to obtain to cut down on illegal stay, our aspiring international student-base have bombarded us with emails and calls inquiring about the reasons for such an announcement, and whether it’s still the best idea to go for higher studies in Australia. The direct answer would be, YES, and without a doubt!

Yet for the sake of detail, we’ll dive into some of the changes. For starters, English language requirements will be made stricter, perhaps the biggest concern. That is, your IELTS scores will need to be higher, i.e.6.5 overall for Graduate and Post-Study level programs (previously 6), and for undergraduate (bachelor’s/honours) an overall score of 6 (previously 5.5). In addition, your Statement of Purpose (SOP) or alternatively, your Genuine Temporary Entrant letter will be highly scrutinised.

The good news is, in spite of these recent policies, Bridging West has maintained a pretty clean sheet for our success rates with Australian student visas. In fact, we believe we may have even cracked the secret to consistent success rates for Australian student visas. We’ll be sharing a few to give our students a sense of how they can overcome the recent strict student visa policies with great success.

  • Go for a 1-year diploma

Applying for a Bachelor’s degree will require an overall IELTS score of 6, that too with no band less than 6, yikes!

Yet here’s an option that many of our students are actually going for – a diploma. With a minimum overall score of 5.5 (with no band less than 5), you won’t find it too difficult to convince your favourite university that not only can you can talk the talk but you’re ready to walk the walk (these sort of idioms are typical of an IELTS score of 5, take notes!)

The best thing about an Australian diploma course is that it prepares you for direct admission to its bachelor degree counterpart in just a matter of 1 year, plus, study gaps are not an issue.

  •  Apply for direct admission to Master’s program

This one’s entirely focused on our Bangladeshi undergraduate student-base looking to apply for a Master’s program in Australia. If you’re already done with your bachelor’s/honours, you can actually apply for direct admission to our affiliate universities.

For instance, Murdoch Universities is among our affiliations offering direct Master’s program admission to undergraduates of these 20 Bangladeshi universities that are now considered Section 1 universities as per Australia’s new Country Education Profile for Bangladesh.

Can you spot your university on the list?

  1.  Ahsanullah University of Science & Technology (AUST)
  2.  American International University of Bangladesh (AIUB)
  3.  BRAC University (BRACU)
  4.  East West University (EWU)
  5.  Independent University of Bangladesh (IUB)
  6.  Islamic University of Technology (IUT)
  7.  Khulna University (KU)
  8.  North South University (NSU)
  9.  Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST
  10.  University of Science and Technology, Chittagong (USTC)
  11.  United International University
  12.  Stamford University
  13.  Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University
  14.  Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Science University
  15.  Sylhet Agricultural University
  16.  Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science & Technology University
  17.  Jagannath University
  18.  Jashore University of Science and Technology
  19.  Islamic University of Technology (IUT)
  20.   Asian University for Women

In addition, students of section 2 universities can apply for direct admission after a 5-year Undergraduate degree.

  • PTE (Pearson Test of English) can be your IELTS-alternative

Although we are not keen on selling you the myth that PTE is easier than IELTS, instead, you should note that the difference in the method of PTE examination is what makes it seem more comfortable. PTE is a fully computerised English test, whereas IELTS requires you to actually put words down with pen on paper, and to the nightmare of all you introverts, you will have to sit face-to-face with a highly proficient interviewer and articulate your inner thoughts!

Both examinations are approximately 3 hours in duration, yet the convenience of sitting in front of a computer is far less intimidating, isn’t it? Just imagine being surrounded by a room full of equally nervous candidates, and some even highly confident ones too (the author of this article and your fellow introvert finds the latter scenario more damaging to his self-esteem, in case you’re wondering!).  Besides, the PTE tasks are much shorter in respect to IELTS

  • Start early with Australia’s schooling program

This one’s for the happy-go-lucky little ones, well, for their parents actually. You can actually start living in Australia simply by enrolling your child into an Australian school in less than 1 month. You can select the school and city and you can also decide which parent will stay in Australia with the child. Have no doubts about the fact that schooling your child in Australia will give you access to all the first-world opportunities and will give your child further chances of higher studies.

You can admit your child into any level between Year 1 to 10. Upon completing Year 10, your child will be eligible to apply for college programs or diplomas leading to their eventual admission in universities.

And yes, your kids don’t have to sit for any English test to get their student visas.

  • Get help from University affiliated agents

While we absolutely envy the youthful risk-taking spirit you possess, at times it’s smart to stay on the safe side, isn’t it? That’s one of the advantages of signing up with real Australian university affiliated agents. At Bridging West, we have partnered with the most reputed agents whose portfolio of university affiliations speak volumes.

In essence, we have real inside information of what each university is expecting in their student candidates, and we present your application in the best possible way highlighting your grades, extracurriculars, accomplishments and interests that perfectly complements the requirements of the program of your choice. Yup, we’re the real deal!

  • Work on your SOP/GTE writing skills, or better, trust your agents (that’s us, obviously!)

We couldn’t stress the importance of an effective SOP/GTE enough. For Australian student visas, your statement of purpose can make or break your entire chances of ever studying in Australia. It’s also a low-key way of verifying your genuine English skills just to check if your IELTS scores aren’t lying! Trust us when we tell you this, whether you can really articulate and present your true intentions for entering Australia plays a major role.

Therefore, you can boil it down to two choices. You may either brush up your writing skills and write up the SOP yourself, or two, and far more conveniently, trust your dedicated SOP experts at Bridging West to guide you in crafting that excellent statement to make your visa officer wish he/she had met you sooner!

That’s enough to entertain your Australian study dreams for now, though rest assured, we have a lot more “secrets’’ to share with our dedicated student-base. For more insider information, feel free to contact us and explore wider study options in Australia.
